Abuse Happens

You arrive home and Kai immediately starts calling you a ‘whore’ and a ‘slut’. He grabs you by the throat and pushes you against the wall demanding to know who you have been sleeping around with. He starts to squeeze your throat until it becomes impossible to breathe. Just before you lose consciousness, he lets go and you fall to the floor. Kai takes your mobile phone and throws it against the wall. It shatters and breaks into many pieces leaving you unable to call for help.

You don’t like police, they have never really helped you anyway and after being in prison, you never want to see another police officer.

Later that day when Kai goes down to the shops, I put a few clothes in a plastic bag and decide to leave. I don’t have any friends or family that I can ask for help, and no money. The only way I can leave Kai is to go into refuge.
