You arrive at your new flat

With the help of the Women’s Advocate, I secure a little flat with the Department of Housing.

The flat is clean and cosy; this might be the place where I could bring my kids if DOCs let me. I know it would be a tight fit, but I think I could do it.

Last night a man who lives in the building approached me; he was really out of it, and it scared me. There are always kids screaming and babies crying, not to mention loud parties and random people hanging around the building.

I’m more anxious each day and begin to miss the quiet home Kai and I once shared. It’s harder and harder to remember the bad times with Kai; I miss him and wonder how he is. It wouldn’t hurt to give him a call – would it?
